The world has been greatly reduced in size by man's technology. Something MAN does on the other side of the world has ramifications that go unseen here. The fisheries of the Northwest have been greatly effected by many of MAN'S technologies. Some for the good, but most to the detriment of the species involved. While this page is part of a fishing guide to the northcoast rivers, it gives me an opportunity to share projects that are ongoing to help preserve the salmonoid species of the West Coast and I hope to make you the user of these pages aware of the efforts going on to this end.
What I would like to do with this page is to offer information I have gathered and other sources of information available on the WWW or where ever that information may be. I would, also, ask you the viewer to send me any information or sources that you know about, so I can add them to this list.
Listed below are two hatcheries that I have visited on my research efforts for my fishing site. These are the types of projects that help keep the sport and business of fishing alive. While I know there are people who feel hatchery projects are a poor attempt and maybe detrimental to the fisheries, think about what that wood in your house or driving your car has done to these same fisheries.
