The Redwood Information Center located just north of Freshwater Lagoon and a couple miles south of Orick allows access to this section of the creek. There is a parking area, with picnic tables here that allows you to walk to the river. From the parking area there are walk paths that lead to the estuary section through the wet lands. This area is typical of most of the coastal rivers, in that when the tide is high there is a good amount of water present and the best time to fish the area is with the outgoing tide.
This area, also offers sea-run cutthroat trout during fall. winter, and early spring.
REGULATION NOTE: Fishing within a 200 yard radius of the mouth is allowed only from Jan 1 through July 31. Daily limit is two(see regulations).
Always check regulations before fishing any waters.
The dike system that protects the town of Orick provides the fisherman easy access to the creek. The most productive section of Redwood Creek is from the confluence with Patrick Creek, down stream to the mouth. The easiest access along this stretch is just north of Orick along 101. Also just south of the 101 bridge turn east and go towards the rodeo grounds, it is a little walk, but one can get the best drifts from the east side of the creek.
REGULATION NOTE: Fishing from 200 yards upstream from the mouth to the mouth of Prairie Creek is open all year. Daily limit is two.
Always check regulations before fishing any waters.
